What is Dr. Flossy’s Brush Squad Day?

Dr. Flossy’s Brush Squad Day is a one-day event on Monday, October 12, 2026, when Premier Community HealthCare dental teams across Pasco and Hernando counties see kids for cleanings and dental exams alongside free activities and giveaways. It runs from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at five participating locations. Appointments are requested in advance — fill out the form on this page or call 352-518-2000.

October is National Dental Hygiene Month, observed each year to focus attention on daily oral care and the hygienists who deliver it. Premier marks it by making a dental visit easy to say yes to: one day, familiar faces, and a waiting room that feels more like a party than an appointment.

What happens at a Brush Squad visit?

Each child gets a dental cleaning and an exam with a Premier dentist, plus X-rays if the dentist determines they are needed. If treatment is recommended, the team schedules the follow-up before you leave.

  • Dental exam with a Premier dentist

Why a cleaning now matters

A parent smiles beside a child brushing their teeth at the bathroom sink

Tooth decay can affect any child, but some families face greater challenges accessing preventive dental care and treatment. By ages 6 to 9, about half of children have experienced cavities in their baby or permanent teeth. Children in families with lower incomes are disproportionately affected, with untreated cavities occurring at significantly higher rates.

At Premier, we believe every child deserves access to quality dental care that helps prevent problems early and supports a healthy smile for years to come.

  • 1 in 2children have had cavities by age 9
  • 2×higher cavity rate for kids from low-income families
  • 18%of low-income 2- to 5-year-olds have untreated cavities

Premier’s dental team cares for children across Pasco and Hernando counties year-round. Brush Squad Day is simply the easiest day of the year to start.

Frequently asked questions

When and where is Dr. Flossy’s Brush Squad Day?
Brush Squad Day is Monday, October 12, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is happening at five Premier Community HealthCare locations across Pasco and Hernando counties: Dade City, Zephyrhills, New Port Richey, Spring Hill and Cox Elementary School.
Do I need insurance to bring my child?
No. Premier accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare, and offers a Sliding Fee Discount Program for uninsured and underinsured patients based on income and household size.
Does my child have to be an existing Premier patient?
No. New patients are welcome at Brush Squad Day. Let us know when you request your appointment and the team will handle registration when you arrive.
Do I need an appointment, or can we walk in?
Appointments are strongly recommended, and you can request one using the form on this page or by calling 352-518-2000. Walk-in availability on October 12 is limited and not guaranteed.
What should I bring?
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, and your child’s dental or medical records if you are transferring from another practice. If you are applying for the Sliding Fee Discount Program, bring proof of household income.
How long will the visit take?
Plan on about an hour, though the exact time depends on your child’s needs and whether X-rays are taken. Arriving a few minutes early helps, especially if your child is a new patient.
What if my child is nervous about the dentist?
Tell us when you request the appointment. Premier’s dental team works with anxious children every day, and the whole point of Brush Squad Day is to make the visit feel like something other than a medical appointment.
Does anyone at the event speak Spanish?
Yes. Premier serves a large Spanish-speaking community and has Spanish-speaking staff across its locations. Let us know your preferred language when you request your appointment.
Who is Dr. Flossy?
Dr. Flossy is Premier’s oral health mascot — a tooth in a Premier ball cap with a toothbrush in hand. Dr. Flossy will make appearances throughout Pasco and Hernando counties on Brush Squad Day. Follow Premier on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok to see where Dr. Flossy pops up next.
What happens if my child needs treatment after the exam?
If the dentist finds something that needs attention, the team will schedule the follow-up visit before you leave. Treatment is not performed at the Brush Squad Day visit itself.
