Premier Community HealthCare has received a New Access Point award from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), supporting the establishment of a new health center in West Pasco County.
The new location, planned along the U.S. 19 corridor in the Gulf Harbors area of New Port Richey, will expand access to primary care and other essential health services for residents in the surrounding community.
The award is part of a historic $102 million federal investment announced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and HRSA to expand the Health Center Program. Nationwide, 158 new and existing health centers received New Access Point awards supporting the establishment of 415 new service sites. HHS estimates the expansion will bring comprehensive primary care to nearly 1 million additional people across the country.
The awards represent the first major expansion of the Health Center Program since 2019.
Expanding Access in West Pasco
For Premier, the New Access Point award provides an opportunity to address barriers to care in an area of Pasco County where additional access is needed.
“This award represents an important investment in the health of West Pasco,” said Joey Resnick, President and CEO of Premier Community HealthCare. “Expanding into this community will allow us to bring high-quality, accessible care closer to the people who need it and build stronger connections with the individuals and families we serve.”
Premier plans to offer Family Medicine and Behavioral Health services at the new health center, bringing care closer to residents in New Port Richey and surrounding West Pasco communities.
The new location will further Premier’s mission to provide accessible healthcare services for all by making it easier for patients to receive care closer to where they live and work.
New Access Point funding is one of HRSA’s primary mechanisms for expanding the Health Center Program into medically underserved communities. Federally funded health centers currently provide comprehensive primary care to more than 32 million people at more than 16,000 service sites nationwide.
Premier will share additional information about the new West Pasco location, services and opening plans as development moves forward.
